What a horrible month it's been so far. To cut a long story short, I went to an interview (first one in many months) which lasted five hours. It all went very well. But you can all guess what happened.

    I'm still alive (barely).
    The search continues!

Have you had asked for feedback as to why you didn't get the post?
If not, ask what qualifications or experience would have helped you to get the job (i.e. what the succesful candidate had that you didn't) as you would like to use this information to help you get another post.

It's always worth asking if you would be considered if they were to advertise another post at the school.

Perhaps these questions could be put into a letter/email thanking them for interviewing you (even if you don't actually feel like saying this)

Thankyou. It's the first thing I do (after I have composed myself ). I always try to keep a good relationship going, especially when I had such a good interview; It's one of the reasons I don't 'name and shame'. I still don't know why they didn't offer me the position. It was a senior ict technician role, I used a well tailored CV (ommitting much of my experience) and stuck to that position at interview.

    @AXE

Keep in there buddy. Something will come along. Don't lose heart or hope. When it does come it will be brilliant for you.

Plus we will all be able to ask you for advice on interview techniques and CV writing skills.

    Hang in there.

Tell me about it. You'd think that people would be beating eachother to offer me a job.
When there's £1500 for offering me a work trial, and a further £2000 for offering me a job.

It costs the taxpayer £1650 a month to keep me unemployed. That's over £23000 so far!

Does that help? I'm pretty sure I would wait untill they have made there decision before contacting them again, as it could make you seem pushy

I don't mean to be rude, but how do you receive £1650 per month?? What does it break down into?

I don't get £1650 a month. You have to factor in: Job Seekers Allowance, Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, The taxes I am not paying when unemployed (Income Tax, VAT). It all adds up.

what is it without the tax that you would be paying, as tbh i don't see that as costing us anything..

I find it hard to believe you have applied for so many jobs and haven't recieved anything offer etc. Must be something seriously wrong in your approach?

I must admit I was wondering if your interview technique is poor, as I can see no other reason why you wouldn't succeed eventually.
What DOES the feedback you get say?
