    So that one's quite easy then, whilst tackling the problem on the server, you make a quick phone call to the head, explaining that you haven't forgotten him/her, that you have a serious problem with the server (which may even solve the printing problem) and will get to him as soon as you can, in the meantime, If his print job is urgent, it may be worth emailing his document to his PA and get him or her to print it.

    You get to work on the major problem and keep the head happy at the same time.
