I agree, seems like there asking for a lot for 17K! Also sounds like you would be working on your own without any team or assistance! I dont envy the person who gets that job!
Unless they have a managed service from RM but the ad does not seem to suggest that...

If they are looking to employ a network manager within the context of a secondary school salerys tend to start at 21K and can range anything up to the 35K mark depending on size of the school and team etc.
A year ago My college advertised my post (Network Manager) at 23.5k-26k, we have 1100 students and theres myself and a technician. Also looking to take on another soon.
Again it varies but 17k seems awefully low for some of the job requirements for this ad! The again it is a credit crunch and with unemployment on the raise maybe the school hopes to capitalise on this!

It's 17k pro rata, term time only too.
I really can't imagine an experiance network manager considering this post.
