Details SUMMARY
Provide support to staff and students on the learning platform.
Troubleshoot problems and determine source, and advise on appropriate action. Complete LP project-based work.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
*To have a clear overview of all current projects currently under development, and to track their progress. To make sure projects are completed in time and satisfy set criteria.
*To keep abreast of current and future developments to the Learning Platform system and related software.
*To test and accept changes to the Learning Platform system and related software.
*To manage and maintain the Bridge Academy Learning Gateway and Microsoft Share Point systems.
*To use a computer and relevant software to create, review, develop, amend, and update learning resources and any other publications.
*To offer training in software packages or to demonstrate learning resources produced by the team.
*To ensure a reasonable knowledge of relevant copyright and data protection legislation to ensure that content created is both free from any threat of legal challenge and that the intellectual property rights can be safely attributed to the academy.
*To take part in regular update meetings with the Subject Leaders.
*To work alongside the ICT Leader and ICT Manager to ensure standards are being met and the quality assurance process is being followed.
*To liaise with Subject Leaders, non-teaching and teaching staff on the processes undertaken by the team and where appropriate to discuss content being produced and procure any missing details or resources necessary for the completion of each project. *Document issues and resolutions for future reference using Altiris help desk.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members.
2. Provide LP orientation to new academy staff.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic, ICT, reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a college qualification with A levels in ICT, Maths, English.
2. Advanced knowledge of academy supported applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite , scripting like VB and CSS and ASP). Ability to learn and support new applications.
3. Familiar with PC, Laptop, and MAC hardware and software.
4. Ability to analyze and solve problems is required.
Experience in troubleshooting, hardware, network and IP problems is desirable.
CHARACTER:
The Learning Platform Technician must be trustworthy, reliable, and show initiative and be able to work independently. The ability to communicate clearly in English both in person and over the telephone is essential.
