    @Landi

    Cheers for that, i've just seen 2 jobs that are advertised on here for NM and the pay is way more than me, i've printed the job descriptions out and compared them to mine, my job description is so vague compared to the others, and mine looks like a technicians job description. I've asked for a new job description as my line manager will be changing and I feel like i'm doing more than is on my job description and it's going un-noticed.

    Fingers crossed i'll get moved up a bit, even to scale 6 would be an improvement.

    Network managers should be at least on min 30k - 45k - in an ideal world.

    Technicians above training min 18k - 25k.

    36K

    500 pc's, 10 servers, 400 student laptops, 50 staff laptops, web vle designer, 2 technicians.

    Single status will start to make a difference in salaries, my job role has now changed to "ICT operations manager"

    I would really expect NM to be around the 30k mark or they are doing a NM job on a technicians salary...

    BSF will also cause problems i fell.....

    I'm coming to this thread mightily late I know but thought it might be helpful to drop in the fact that the LEA will have a set of Job Descriptions linked to the various IT Posts in the Schools working under them.

    I recently (fruitlessly) sought a review and was provided with 5 or so descriptions related to posts in other schools which they thought might compare with the job I think I do!

    I want to be a network manager one day, but sometimes I feel what is the point? As for the responsibilities you have as a Network Manager aren't "sometimes" worth the difference in pay. My m8 is a standard IT Technician in a straight forward school which has 1000 pupils on roll, and he is on 18,500.

    This is one of the reasons I didn't apply for a job that was advertised at the college nearby. The site has triple the number of kids, PC's and responsibilities as my current position (network manager at a middle school), yet the pay they were offering was only 2k more than my current pay. It just seems awfully like people who don't know anything about the job are the ones determining what it is worth - which leads to poor pay levels.

    There are many things to be wary of when thinking of being a network manager in schools these days BSF, equal pay reviews etc etc. While it may be good for experience there is beginning to be a very limited life span/acceptable wage on these jobs so it will end up being a high turnover role in schools.
