Just found out there is an internal candidate being interviewed for the job too!
Just asked a few questions and found out that there are 3 Tech's including the NM
The network is run with Ranger - I have never even seen Ranger
The VLE runs on Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 - Again no experiance
And they use Backup Exec 11b. - I have this and can use this.
To top this off with the internal candidate I really don't fancy my chances.
Interview experience will be beneficial though
Dont be too techie!!
The majority of employers don't want to hear about anachronims or microsoft technologies, they want to hear you are reliable, good with people and able to manage others in work.
The technical side of things comes a distant second in the network managers role, especially when it comes to job interviews![]()
Just watched the Ranger video demo on the site and it looks pretty straight forward. It seems like its an easier way to do things that I already do with GPO's, AD and Ghost.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the internal candidate thing to be honest.
From my experience in this position before I think the interviewers where harsher on me as the internal candidate than anyone, it's also hard not to use your inside knowledge of the institution when in this position but that can also count against you.

Does anyone know of and good resources/videos where i can get a brief overview of sharepoint 2007 and maybe a brief tour of exchange?
Have a look at these....
itidiots.com - Episode 31. Sharepoint (taught by a girl)
itidiots.com - Episode 49: Exchange 2007 Introduction

Sharepoint is very easy to work with and I enjoy it, so don't be scared of it. If your confortable working in MS Office then you will be happy in Sharepoint, and that to a point goes to the back end stuff on it. SQL is a good skill to have for the rear end of it as its a Database driven solution at the end of the day with a fancy front end on it.
