14th January 2008, 09:59 PM #2 The Director of eLearning there is a top bloke, they have just picked up the ICT Mark and they are serious about the use of ICT.

14th January 2008, 11:55 PM #3 looks good, but the grade/ salary is a joke

15th January 2008, 12:02 AM #4 Well ... it is Pro Rata of around £19k if you did it full time ... and that is not a bad wage.

15th January 2008, 12:07 AM #5 I think most paper-rounds pay more than that!

So why do they pay peanuts ?

15th January 2008, 06:53 AM #7 For someone to come in and start on £19k it is not peanuts. As the previous employee could attest (and I'll see if they will comment) it is a very nice job, working for a very positive Line Manager who seriously has some clue.
Not *every* job can start at £25k and not every job deserves it. And not everything is about money, some of it is about the quality of life you have.
Some people prefer to earn a bit less and have more holiday (term time only contracts), some people prefer to have less stress (no direct tech support).
Sometimes I do think we can all get *too* cynical about what a job entails. Not everyone is out to screw us.

15th January 2008, 08:09 AM #9 Wage seems more than fair for what it is, plus it looks like a lovely job. Think how many fingers we have to have in different pies, never really being able to do what we'd like in any one facet because of time commitments - this is a perfect opportunity to take on one project, and put your all into it.

I think the thing is that althought the pay is scaled at 19k, you are only getting 15k. OK, fine this may be scaled right, but unless you have partner to make up your wages, you cant really do a lot with the holidays as you wont be earning enough.
Still job sounds fairly interesting and I know of people who are earning this much but working full time in schools.

15th January 2008, 10:31 AM #12 its not a bad pay scale, for a uni leaver or similar it'd be good way to get your foot in the door.
plus, if you work well, make yourself popular you'll soon find the hours will go up, etc, i'm sure
