Hi All,
After a year in schools, I have decided it is not for me and am leaving on 7th March. Therefore my post is available, if you are interested or know somebody who might be reply to this post and I will contact you via IM or email.

Job Profile - Network Manager
Job Purpose
Responsible for the proper functioning of the school's IT and communications systems as well as undertaking general tasks which will promote the use of ICT across the curriculum.
Person Spec: The school requires an experienced Network Manager to maintain and improve the ICT and telecommunications network infrastructure and peripherals. They will have experience in network configuration and management, Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory management, management of schools MIS systems (preferably SIMS), computer and peripherals maintenance and repair and support of users with varying levels of ability.
Responsible to: Bursar
Responsible for: Assistant IT Technician, IT Technician University Placement
Key Tasks
Systems
Responsible for the continuous availability, maintenance and running of installed information systems i.e.
• Internet and email
• Passwords, Antivirus and other security systems
• Network and server infrastructure
• Backup systems
• Computers and peripherals for staff and student use
• Purchasing new hardware and software in liaison with line manager
• Printing and server systems
• Telecommunication systems
• Identifying, planning, costing and implementation of all upgrades to infrastructure and peripherals
• Monitoring of student ICT usage using Securus
• Undertake any other reasonable relevant task as requested by line manager
Software
• Management and maintenance of MIS systems (SIMS)
• Management of internet filtering system, Fronter MLE and LGFL VLE
• Ensure all software is up to date
• Ensure that software upgrades are actioned
• Install and test new software using GPO’s MSI’s and Symantec Ghost Auto Install
• Ensure users have access to appropriate software
• Advise users on software matters including research into specialist software.
Hardware
• Check new equipment on arrival and install as appropriate
• Liaise with the Bursar in maintaining the inventory of equipment and Portable Appliance Testing
• Maintain computers and peripheral equipment
• Liaising with suppliers regarding all relevant purchases and repairs as appropriate
Fault Log
• Liaise with Bursar and other relevant staff about clearing faults reported by users
• Prioritise the resolution of problems and determine whether external support is required, including recording requests, following up calls and implementing a maintenance schedule
Training
• Responsible for the line management, development and training of Assistant Technician
• Supporting and training all staff and students in the use of relevant technology around the school
• Support staff and students in the use of ICT resources, for example, through direct interaction and by producing simple help sheets
Personal and professional development
• Attend relevant courses and actively seek to broaden knowledge and skills relevant to responsibilities and to increase personal understanding of how ICT is used in specific contexts.
• Advise ICT Curricular staff and Senior Management Team of emerging technologies and the implementation of ICT policies and procedures.

Best place in the country according to polls I have seen!
