ICT Technician

H3 £15,725.00 p.a. 37 hours per week, full time, 24 days annual leave

Knowledge of Microsoft server 2008, Windows 7 clients, Office 2010 required and either already holding or working towards a Microsoft Certified qualification.

Job Description

The post holder will be responsible to the Headteacher through the ICT Manager and Business Manager. The postholder is required to perform the duties below. S/he will be responsible to the Headteacher and will demonstrate a genuine commitment to our equal opportunities policy and the well being of all students.
This job description will be reviewed annually and will form the basis of the Performance Management Review procedure. Any issues relating to the review of this job description should be brought to the Headteacher’s notice by the postholder through the senior line manager. The postholder will undertake the following specific responsibilities in order to fulfil our statutory requirements, school aims, policies and targets.

The core purposes of this role are:
 Support for the maintenance and development of the school’s servers
 Supporting the training of staff on new initiatives
 Supporting the ICT Manager on the development of ICT throughout the school
 Supporting colleagues with understanding and use of ICT technologies
 Supporting students and colleagues with the use and development of the VLE
 ‘First line’ support colleagues in the use of SIMS ICT software

Secondary tasks may include:
 The general maintenance and repair of ICT equipment
 Installing and testing all new hardware and software
 Making software available to appropriate users.
 Checking of new computer equipment on arrival and its installation.
 Providing support for all peripherals, such as scanners, printers, projectors
 Keeping a log of all technical faults.
 To undertake other tasks when necessary as deemed appropriate by the Headteacher
 Ensuring all health and safety needs and regulations are met.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

 Working towards or holding a Microsoft Accredited qualification
 A good understanding of ICT hardware Knowledge of Microsoft server 2008, Windows 7 clients, Office 2010
 A very good understanding of ICT software, especially Microsoft Office suite
 A willingness and ability to learn new software/hardware to support colleagues
 Proactive approach to identifying the needs of the role
 The ability to work under pressure and to remain calm and methodical when problem solving
 A flexible, friendly attitude, able to appreciate the confusion and lack of confidence students and colleagues may feel when first confronted with new technology
 Good administrative and communication skills, verbal and written An understanding and commitment to equal opportunities.
