Isn't it fairly commonplace for jobs to be temporary in the first instance so the company/school can get rid if an employee doesn't prove up to standard? I'm not arguing for the right and wrongs of this but I have seen it quite often recently, wondered what others experience of this is?

I’d jump for the chance of applying, if it wasn’t temp to perm.

I believe it should have a probation period not temp basis. With temp work they can don’t have to give any reason to get rid and could get someone in with hundreds of ideas and employ someone on less to implement them.

I'm thinking of applying still but I agree the probationary period would be better, I served a probationary period when I was appointed to my current position. I suppose it's something to quiz them on at interview.

I do find it interesting that the teaching positions advertised there aren't also 'Temporary in the first instance' but every Support position is....

Just think with a probation period you have a structure if things do not go as well as planned and they cant just say bye bye after two weeks after you have left a perm postion.

Also think that this inturn lowers the pool of good applications.
