1st March 2012, 01:04 PM #1 EMBC web issues?
Anyone else getting shedloads of pauses/hangs on their browsers regarding scripts not loading? Most of them here are facebook related (i.e. "like" buttons on websites and the sorts) and we've written off anything internal (i.e. it occurs 64bit/32bit, CC3, non CC3, via smartcache, bypassing it entirely, teacher, student and admin accounts. Wonder therefore if EMBC have changed something, so thought I'd ask here before phoning and whinging

I have had a few similar issues, but like everything else I put it down to smartcache being horrific... I'll have a bit more of a test.

1st March 2012, 01:23 PM #3 EMBC (sorry, let's get into the habit now) Capita have said there's been a couple of issues with Java needing updating.
We've replicated it over several browsers however IE9 when fully updated seems OK.
As a majority of our systems are IE8 (do i REALLY have to update java on them all! Nnnngh!) and our main browser is Firefox, they're all going nasty
Ah well, they're taking a look for us once I send over some screenies etc.
Edit: Updated java on our XP/CC3 stations with no effect

I am surprised they thought that would help? I dont see how the 2 could be connected considering javascript != java.

Yes. Thought it was the updated firefox or a virus scan running. Seems to have cleared now.

1st March 2012, 06:07 PM #6 Yup, Capita have closed our call. Left their guy remoted into my station this afternoon for them to replicate the issue reliably and they seem to have narrowed it down. Facebook have changed some of the code/gubbins in their Like button which was blocked by Capita's filters (naturally the old method wasn't). They've updated the filters to coincide with Facebook's new button thingy and that's cleared the problem.
Strange issue that may seem tiny but when you imagine just how many sites have Facebook like buttons on, it seems like quite a catastrophic sitewide failure!
Thumbs up to Capita's guys there for resolving it so quickly

We're still experiencing this issue, I was asked to gather screen shots and e-mail them in.
