With the changes in Netsweeper very recently (can I assume work is still going on?) much has changed with regards to some classifications, for instance we can no longer get Youtube or Facebook whatever list we allow - well with one exception of "Adult Websites" which we have *no* intention of unblocking!

11th August 2011, 05:55 PM #2 Oxfordshire County Council just went the way of Netsweeper - we were one of 3 schools that said a firm NO!
We now run TMG 2010 and haven't looked back
Our internet connection still goes through the County Council and they apply a level of web filtering that they say blocks the 'hard stuff' and quite simply on the first day of pointing our TMG server at their new web filter we couldn't actually Google search the words 'Hard disk'!
With any luck next year (or the year after) we will be totally free off OCC for internet

12th August 2011, 12:19 AM #4 Hmmm ... That is strange. Have you raised a call about it? Facebook and YouTube should be available under the adult user level when using portal controlled filtering or be available to whitelist if using Local Control of Filtering. When categories is it reporting as being blocked under?

12th August 2011, 10:25 AM #5 It's improved this morning - facebook now partially loads! There is a call open yeah, just wondered if anyone else had similar issues

15th August 2011, 01:05 PM #6 youtube and facebook are part of "Social Networking" category, though due to a "workaround" they were placed in "Matrimonial Sites" which appears on the System Wide Block List - therefore that takes preference over your local Allow/Deny lists

16th August 2011, 08:10 AM #7 Heh, there needs to be some more "workarounds" in place then if that's the case!
- Reminds me though, forgot to chase up that call. *puts reminder in his phone*

22nd August 2011, 09:46 AM #8 Hi Synesthesia
There is a piece of work ongoing to change the "workarounds" that were put in place where sites were put in default blocked lists to put them in their respective lists - theres no ETA for when this will be finished, but as I understand it - its still ongoing.
Thanks

22nd August 2011, 10:09 AM #9 I had the pleasure of trying to set up Netsweeper on our CC3 network and have ran into so many issues, I have removed the scripts now for logon/log off and my poor techinician still gets the local netsweeper "blocked page" between 10 am and 2 pm every day. I have had this same "caching" of pages problems with fortinet - strugging to find what is causing it!
