All mail traffic in and out of EMBC has to pass through a mail relay/filter. For your specific domain (school.region.sch.uk or other specified domain) there will be a specific account on that filter system that will give you access to applying rules to your mail traffic. It also gives you access to release emails that have been quarantined.

Ask first line about setting up your access to this. There are other Leics member around that can talk you through stuff pending a fresh set of user guides arriving.

With EMF all 'suspect' email is stored in a queue and you have to review the emails and release them before they'll be sent. Until you fine tune your rules this can be a pain as it triggers a lot of false positives and if you forget to clear the queue regularly then that important email from your admin department may not arrive when it should. Same applies for incoming mail. The only mail which you don't control through EMF is mail to the same domain.

It turned out to be a DNS misconfiguration at the EMBC end.

Quick question for anyone that's done it. Will EMBC allow external connectivity for HTTPS to OWA and RPC over HTTPS? After recent weeks, looking at putting in an internal Exchange server seems sensible (and would reduce the size of our GAL!), and need to know if external access to email would be possible!

I don't think there would be an issue with this. I would speak with your local team for a bit more advice about setting it up.

You can indeed do this. We've done the same on our site.

You just need to let the EMBC know what you want to do and they'll send you a form to fill in and get signed by the local authority.

You'll need to know what ports you want to open and which external IP address you want to use and they'll do the rest.
