No I had different issues ie the aspect ratios were wrong and it was chopping too much off or it would not let me fast forward / rewind or skip to different parts of the m2ts file but translucent UI seemed fine.

Only thing I did find which I have not tried was to change the loopback processing for H264 on the FFMPEG section to Bi Dir for better quality or All but setting to All supposdly degrades quality of the video being played back.

I have mplayer extended and also the MplayerX as well as VLC and quicktime + perian

Using snow leopard ( 10.6.6 )

Tried that setting and that black window to start with is in the foreground, double click it and the translucent controller becomes visible and workable with a full screen of pitch black and the video plays behind it. Double click and it shrinks back to a black square and u can click on an area around the black square which is the video and the black square and translucent ui controller vanish and you can bring the video to the foreground but with no controls

Any ideas?

VLC keeps me sane sometimes - shame they removed it from the app store. Great bit of kit.

Still doing it, almost like its creating 2 layers or forms, one for the video canvas and one for the translucent UI and when you launch the m2ts video file the video canvas is in the background playing back and the canvas for the UI controls are in the foreground, annoying is what it is but that didn't make a blind bit of difference.

I used OS X MPlayer Extended which works better then the normal MPlayer and allowed me to pause m2ts files and works most of the time, sometimes the video footage is shifted to an odd place like its been moved diagonally by about 10 cm's to the top right so has chopped off a good chunk, I just have to keep flicking between players depending no the video

How do you guys deploy this? I made an MSI the other year of 1.0.3 (I think that's the version number). It works and I've never bothered to update - but I wish the people who create it would make a generic MSI.

I read it can be installed on a network drive but does this install the 'Play With VLC.... ' on the right click button? I don't really want it accessed over the network.

I built my own MSI using Advanced Installer. Takes me about 5 minutes to update it when there's a new version, and most of that is just checking which files have been added/removed. Mine doesn't have any context menu items though (and only one file association) so probably wouldn't be much use to you I'm afraid, plus I'm not really sure how distributing an alternative installer gels with the licence agreement.

I send the vlc exe to the workstation to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\vlc-1.1.9-win32.exe

then simply execute a batch file with the command

L=1033 being the language ( English) and /S being a silent install

Have you done this with the latest version? Would you mind suggesting how?

VLC runs with almost no config, so it's really just a case of starting a new project and throwing all the files from the .zip distribution in.
