I came across SlickRun available for download this morning.
SlickRun Download: Link
The site says:
"SlickRun is a 32-bit floating command line utility for Windows. Occupying less than 1.5% of a 800x600 display, SlickRun gives you almost instant access to any program on your computer. SlickRun allows you to create command aliases, so C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe becomes Mail. Enter a web URL into SlickRun and it will launch your browser and navigate to the specified address. Jot a note, look up a definition... SlickRun does it all!"
OK so ignoring the hype after it is installed the default SlickRun commands seem to be:
[amazon] Go to the amoazon website.
[babel] Go to the babelfish website.
[book] Find a named book from the AFind selected word using the Webster Online Dictionary.
[encyc] Find entry in MSN Online Encyclopedia.
[google] I think we all know that one.
[goto] Goto a nominated page using google as the engine.
[hibernate] Hibernate Windows.
[lock] Lock the station using the windows screensaver.
[mail] Start Windows Mail.
[morning] Goto GotApex? Deals & Coupon Codes to look for early morning deals[?]
[movie] Find an entry on The Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
[msnbc] Goto the news website of MSNBC.
[myyahoo] Goto http://my.yahoo.com.
[paint] Start Paintbrush.
[player] Start Windows Media Player.
[shutdown] Shut the computer down.
[sleep,standby] Trigger sleep mode.
[solitaire] Start Solitaire.
[weather] Find the latest local weather from National and Local Weather Forecast, Hurricane, Radar and Report.
(The values in brackets are the commands typed to get SlickRun to do something)
The commands can be edited and new commands can be added. I am not sure I like it yet but I thought some others might so here it is.
