Ho do you set that up Stewart? If I focus on the Statue of Liberty, for example, I can't get World Wind to get in anywhere near as close as Google Earth. With Google Earth you can make out the blobs that are tourists around the statue, but with World Wind, I can only get it to show a grainy picture in which I can just make out the statue itself.Quote:

Seems you have to be careful with some types of graphics cards. Some refuse to work in OpenGL where as others don't like DirectX.
I have downloaded the free version of google earth onto three machines now. On all three when I run it, it connects to the servers ok. But all I can see is stars. Then when I ask it to go somewhere, the stars start to move and then the screen turns green, but I can't see any images of land. I have update DirectX and latest graphic drivers but to no avail. The OpenGL mode just crashes.
My graphics is onboard but has 32mb ram. I have tried it on a Dell laptop too. I have disabled the XP firewall. I can't understand it, when google earth is running, it says it is streaming at 100%.
So what's happening?

Just a thought, install it on your laptop, take it home, and if it works at home, but not at NCTC, you've got some idea where the problem lies **cough** CLEO !!!
I did think it might be CLEO. It wouldn't surprise me. Have you tried it yet?
It works here in Poulton - with an ISA server between it and CLEO.
Yes, but I have the feeling that CLEO have seperate rules for us in Cumbria. I think they think we are primitive. They down lock everything and we have to argue to get it opened!

Yep, but you need another machine to tunnel too. For best results you'll need it on a decent connection too.
