Windows Movie Maker Installer for Windows 7

Came across this while looking for something else and thought it would be worth posting. This will install Windows Movie Maker v6.0 (which was included with Windows XP) on a PC running Windows 7 (and possibly Vista too). The latest versions of WMM/WLMM are a bit rubbish IMO.

Windows Movie Maker Installer for Windows 7

Microsoft Windows Movie Maker is a video editing application by Microsoft available to Windows XP and Windows Vista users. Windows Movie Maker Installer allows you to install Microsoft Windows Movie Maker 6.0 in a fresh installation of Windows 7. You can then enjoy again DV export and a true timeline not found in the new Windows Live Movie Maker. Both versions of Movie Maker may be installed side-by-side though if needed. This installer supports both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

If you've got a Vista PC to hand, you can copy the folder from Program Files onto Win7 or a network share and run it from there, too.

There are plenty of installers for the older version of Vista Movie Maker floating about(Vista Movie Maker to Windows 7) that register the DLLs in the program folder.

You can also use the Vista Movie Maker 2.6 installer which installs the non GPU accelerated version from here Download details: Windows Movie Maker 2.6

Even though the license states that both are only supposed to be installed on Vista apparently the 2.6 version is allowed by MS(Miss the Old Movie Maker? Get it Back on Windows 7 | Sarah In Tampa | Channel 10) now as they realise that live movie (Movie Maker - Windows Live) is a bit rubbish.
