Thanks Nick, well spotted on the typo

The deleting of it should work if the web server has the right permissions to. All links should work regardless of the index.php as it is just Mod_Rewrite to remove it from URLs.

Hehe, you're right! Once I realised what a plonker I was and went through the installation instructions correctly it all works well

I've also noticed that when I went to add a room when I hadn't defined any custom fields it threw up a few PHP errors - but still added the room regardless. Is that just me continuing the plonker trend?

    This looks really good.
I was going to set up MRBS but never got around to it but this looks a bit simpler. Why did you create your own as opposed to using MRBS?

Also, could you give some recommended hardware specs. I am not to confident setting this up so if you could (or know about) a simple guide to setting up all the pre-reqs (Linux/Apache/PHP/mySql) that would really help all us *nix virgins

Re: Room Booking Database/Web based (.asp)

@Craig - We are looking at getting a new room booking system, primarily due to the system that we are currently using cannot provide us with reports on user usage of rooms. It can give us a report of room usage by department, but not by user. I downloaded Classroombookings (havent installed yet), noticed that it says report generating not yet complete.

Are the reports partially done? or still to be done? The rest of it looks not only ideal from a technical standpoint, but also from an aesthetic standpoint

    Hi Jake.

Yes reports are in the making - it's just a matter of pulling the existing booking data out and putting it in a human-readable format.

    Re: Room Booking Database/Web based

Has anyone getting webmans room booking program working on a Windows server? We have installed it but get his customized “404 Page Not Found” error page when trying to access the main index.php page.

    Regards

Doudar: Is that on Apache or IIS? And if IIS, how do you have PHP installed? I must admit I've never put PHP on IIS before.

We have over the last 6 months been using this room booking system. http://mrbs.sourceforge.net/. It is open source and has ldap authentication aswell.

    Deff worth a shot!

Hi, we have IIS 5, PHP 4.3.10 and MySQL 4.1 both work fine as we have other php apps running on the server (Win 2K server), one or zero helpdesk.

Re: Room Booking Database/Web based (.asp)

Ross: The issue I have with mrbs is that as we run a 2 week timetable and the 2 weeks are seperate using mrbs I had to set it up for each half term as the week for half term wasn't counted.

Webmans solution allows you to allocate what the weeks in a year belong too which works perfectly for us.
