Another quick query about the licenses - Do we need to renew the licences each year or just the maintenance subscription?

During the first year, you may update your software as frequent as versions are released. After the first year, your help desk software will run just fine. It will not shut down. You just won't be able to install any new versions.

But again, your help desk software will continue to run just fine!

Ok... what about security updates... Will those be free or not?

I ask because this is a web based system we're talking about here and I would never suggest that anyone run a potentially insecure system if patches and security updates are only being provided to "current" customers.

From a coder/supplier perspective, you also have to question whether a free security model is a good idea either as you end up with a major versioning nightmare with branches all over the place to maintain.

Just a thought as a PHP coder of old who's faced the same issues and come away with a headache.

Hmmm well that sucks so it's basically a demo of the system unless you pay for it after the first year.

What is the price after the first year then?

I didn't delete this as spam originally as it was a free system and looked like a good idea but now I'm not sure.

Lightbulb Web Help Desk Software - Licensing

The Free Edition (with full Lite Edition functionality) requires no fees whatsoever.

If you require more help desk staff logins, would prefer technical support, and/or would like to utilize all of the features in the PRO Edition; there are a number of options:

    Lite Edition or PRO Edition:
    (1) Server License (installed on a server in-house to your organisation)
    (2) SaaS hosted help desk software plans (installed off-site to our organisation)

Server License - One-time license fee (never pay again) + Nominal annual maintenance (for version upgrades and unlimited tech support)

SaaS Hosted Plan - Annual fee; same fee each year (included automatic version upgrades and unlimited tech support)

Fees are based solely on the Edition and the number of named help desk technician logins...no modules to buy, no nodes, no number of assets, and endusers are always unlimited!

I'm sure the next question will be "so, how much for Lite or Pro?"

With this difference between editions, server license vs. SaaS, tech login tier price points, variations in currency exchange rates (which we try our best to accommodate); any blanket statement on pricing would be a challenge and not representative of the options available; especially within such a multi-national forum.

Get your pricing questions answered fast and exact, with a formal quotation(s)

Help desk software pricing for Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Help desk software pricing for the Americas and Australia.

We can mention that you will be hard pressed to find a more cost effective solution on the market with this feature set. The learning curve on the solution is near flat and the ROI will be measurable in weeks to a few months; not years.

Not quite correct. The Free Edition is free and will run indefinitely! You do NOT have to pay for it after the first year.

That's a bit harsh - there's plenty of other immensely useful freeware apps that are long abandoned or have an indefinite use shareware period. If you're using the helpdesk for internal use only, find it useful immediately and don't want/need new features, or have no security issues with fiddly users, I can't see why no free updates after a year would be an issue... If it works out of the box for me I'll happily use it long past the point it's still supported.

Talking No Free Edition License Key Required!

FYI - The latest version 9.1.12 requires no license key to become the Free Edition. It will auto-convert to the perpetual Free Edition after the 30 day run.

The websites haven't been updated with this news yet. You heard it here first!

    Enjoy!
