    In the folder that the program installed to there should be a folder called scripts (On mine C:\Program Files (x86)\Skeep\Skeep VNC Console\scripts) you need to apply the scripts to run on a OU that the machines are in on logoff and logon via a GP, can't remember what you do with the ADschema script file tho :s

    As far as I know it works fine on Win XP machines not sure about Win 7/Vista

    I have installed Skeep 1.4 and im having some problems.

    I can connect to any machine on our network fine without any problems however i cant control the PC at all. I have the same settings on my machine as my work colleagues so i cant seem to understand why mine doesnt work. i have tried reinstalling Skeep and thats still doesnt fix the issue.

    Is there anything in Services i need to enable?

    Skeep looks like it might be the answer i have been searching for, however I cant seem to get the IP address and MAC address to send back information. The grey lines disappear as though it has filled in information but the fields remain blank. Image = skeep.PNG

    Any ideas? I haven't changed any of the scripts?

    Hi Tom have you put the skeeplogoff and skeeplogon.vbs located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Skeep\Skeep VNC Console\scripts folder on a policy in AD so the login script runs each time someone logs on and the same for logoff?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

    Yes I should have specified, I have them set as login and logout scripts for users. The usernames update and so does the logged in/out icon. Just the IP and MAC remains blank.

    Thanks,
    T

    hmm I'm not 100% sure then as the scripts inputs all that information into AD and if its getting the usernames etc but not the IPs the script is defo running but not completing. Have you run the script locally and then looking in ADSI edit for the machine you have just run it on and found the variables below? As skeep doesn't use a database its writes everything to AD, under the ipHostNumber for example if you open ADSI edit you should see the computers IP address in this field and this is where the console gets its information from

    objComp.employeeNumber = strUserName 'Last Logged on User
    objComp.employeeID = boolLoggedOn 'loggedOn
    objComp.ipHostNumber = IP 'IP Address
    objComp.networkAddress = MAC 'MAC address
    objComp.serialNumber

    Thanks
    Duncan

    It updates employeeID and employeeNumber with no issue. That is definitely working. However networkAddress and ipHostNumber are showing <Not Set>.

    I cant figure out a way to diagnose the VB, is there a way I can watch its progress of the script or convert it into a bat or powerscript file?

    Thanks Duncan,

    Hi Tom,

    Sorry I know bits about how the programs work because I know the guy that created the program but he doesn't really support it anymore and I'm not a vbs expert at all. Can you just output the variables to screen editing he vbs file? Is it something to do with admin rights maybe? Although I wouldn't of thought so because the username is working....

    Hazzar! I have made it work! The logon Scrip wasn't pulling all the information from the local machines, only the username. Not sure if this isnt because of windows 7 over xp or what... So, by a bit of look up how to pull the information differently, and some "Script Stitching" I sewed this beautiful tapestry:

    The skeeplogon.vbs Script Now:

    on error resume next

    Dim strUserName, IP, MAC, Serial, boolLoggedOn
    'local computer
    strComputer = "."
    ' Constants required for name translate
    Const ADS_NAME_INITTYPE_GC = 3
    Const ADS_NAME_TYPE_NT4 = 3
    Const ADS_NAME_TYPE_1779 = 1

    'Get the NETBIOS name of the domain
    Set objSystemInfo = CreateObject("ADSystemInfo")
    strDomain = objSystemInfo.DomainShortName

    ' Get the name of the computer
    set objNetwork = createobject("Wscript.Network")
    strComputer = objNetwork.ComputerName

    ' Call function to return the distinguished name (DN) of the computer
    strComputerDN = getComputerDN(strComputer,strDomain)

    Set objComp=GetObject("LDAP://" & strComputerDN)
    GETDETAILS
    objComp.employeeNumber = strUserName 'Last Logged on User
    objComp.employeeID = boolLoggedOn 'loggedOn
    objComp.ipHostNumber = IP 'IP Address
    objComp.networkAddress = MAC 'MAC address
    objComp.serialNumber = Serial 'Serial
    objComp.SetInfo

    function getComputerDN(byval strComputer,byval strDomain)

    Set objTrans = CreateObject("NameTranslate")
    ' Initialize name translate using global catalog
    objTrans.Init ADS_NAME_INITTYPE_GC, ""
    ' Input computer name (NT Format)
    objTrans.Set ADS_NAME_TYPE_NT4, strDomain & "\" & strComputer & "$"
    ' Get Distinguished Name.
    getComputerDN = objTrans.Get(ADS_NAME_TYPE_1779)

    end function

    '*************************GET COMPUTER INFO*************************
    function GETDETAILS

    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
    Set colSMBIOS = objWMIService.ExecQuery ("SELECT * FROM Win32_SystemEnclosure")

    For Each objSMBIOS in colSMBIOS
    'Get Serial
    Serial = objSMBIOS.SerialNumber
    Next

    Set objNet = CreateObject("WScript.NetWork")

    'Get Current Username
    strUserName = objNet.UserName

    'Currently Logged on
    boolLoggedOn = 1

    wmiQuery = "Select * from Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration " & "Where IPEnabled = 'True'"
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2")
    Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery(wmiQuery)

    For Each objItem In colItems
    For Each IPAddr In objItem.IPAddress
    If IPAddr <> "0.0.0.0" Then
    MAC = objItem.MACAddress
    IP = ""
    For j = 0 To UBound(objItem.IPAddress)
    If (sIPAddress = "") Then
    IP = objItem.IPAddress(0)
    End If
    Next
    End If
    Next
    Next
    End Function

    <<<<<<<<
    SCRIPT ENDED

    Thanks very much Duncan for your assistance. Please pass the back to your friend, you never know he may have use for it. But be sure to tell him where it came from!

    I just discovered Skeep but I have some issues with it..

    I know that I have to add the logon and logoff script to the user on the domain through a group policy, but what I have to do with the ADScheme script?
    The console doesn’t displays Username/IP-Adress/Mac-Adress when I search for a user, neither it does display the users in the drop-down menu on the left side.

    Someone can help?

    Hi qUoTum,

    Firstly it doesn't display users on the left OU unit structure just machines (I don't use this bit anyway just the search feature). Secondly its been such a long time since I set it up I can't remember what the ADScheme.vbs does I'll try and find out, lastly could the Username/IP-Adress/Mac-Adress not showing be the same problem as Tom above have you tried his modified script?
    Thanks
    Duncan
