Java Runtime Environment 7 Update 60 released

    Another day, another Java update.

    Java SE 7 Update 60 (expires 15th July 2014)
    Download (Windows: 32-bit, 64-bit / OS X: 64-bit) / Release Notes / Bugs Fixed

    New Features and Changes

Java ignores deployment.expiration.check.enabled property for first launch
If you have an older version of Java and expiration check is turned off through deployment.properties file, Java may ignore this property for first launch.

To ensure that expiration check is disabled, use the following Java Web Start command:

    Code:
    javaws -userConfig deployment.expiration.check.enabled false
If this property is changed in the deployment.properties file, open the Java Control Panel before starting an application to ensure that the native cache is synchronized with the file. For more information, see Deployment Configuration File and Properties.

They do you have to copy the msi and a few other files from appdata/locallow/sun/deployment/jre etc

They do....you just need to dive into the temp directory after launching the EXE installer and grab the 2 files in the sun\jre_$version directory. There should be an MSI and cab file (i think) that you need to copy.

Ditching the expiration disable is a bit stupid. The only way to centrally control it is to block the domain it contacts. Unless to add the command line parameters to the deployment.properties .

Oracle haven't ditched the expiration check completely. It's just ignored the first time Java is run. Still annoying though!

Do you block the entire domain (javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com) or just the first URL below?

    Code:
    https://javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com/update/baseline.version
    https://javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com/update/blacklist
    https://javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com/update/blacklisted.certs

    @Arthur

    javadl-esd-secure.oracle.com

The whole domain. We did it before oracle documented deployment.properties way of doing it.
