    Training - 16th March

Another training opportunity, This time courtesy of Teksys

On 16th March, Microsoft and Teksys are co-hosting an event on Software Asset Management, in conjunction with Investors in Software.

Entitled Managing Software Assets in the Education Environment, the event will look at the issues and methods of managing your software assets in education, and how the new ISO international standard for software management will be applied in education in the UK. This FREE event is open to colleges, universities, schools and local authorities and takes place on the morning of 16th March at the Microsoft Campus in Reading, Berkshire. For more details, or to register, please email events@teksys.co.uk or ring Debbie Hogan on 01256 827555.

    Event Title:
Managing Software Assets in the Education Environment

Leveraging the new ISO standard to mitigate risk and maximise value

    Date & Time:
    16th March 2007, 9.30am to 12.30pm plus lunch

    Overview:

The education sector is beset with onerous business risks from unlicensed software and copyright protection. It also has a budgetary mandate to reduce expense and maximise value. Implementing Software Asset Management (SAM) processes and policies enables schools and colleges to mitigate these risks and ensure software licenses are fully exploited before new ones are obtained. ISO/IEC-19770-1 was released in May 2006 as a global standard for Software Asset Management.

    Agenda:
    The case for SAM

Planning & Implementing SAM Processes in accordance with ISO 19770-1

Software Publishers enforcement & audit programs - what happens during a license audit

Licensing essentials - Proof of license, entitlements, common traps & pitfalls

Counterfeit software – does it exist and what does it look like?

Self-audit – how to get Software Publishers to support you own SAM program

    Leveraging SAM tools

    You will get:
Free 30-day trial of market leading software discovery tool from Centennial

    A self-start guide to SAM

…and a chance to win some Microsoft goodies and copies of Windows Vista!

Please ring me, or your Teksys account manager, if you have any questions.
