Feel free as we are all at different points on different tracks main thing is to spur each other along

I will make a point of posting questions each week along lines of "what did you learn?" generic questions that keep us moving...

You may also want to check out practice exams from Preplogic, Transcender and/or Boson.

I've used Measure-Up practice exams (the ones that come with MS Press books) and didn't get on with them.

My material advises me to complete both the A+ one and A+ two courses both doing either exam.

So was calling A+ as in essentials exam and then second exam 601. Not sure might take both exams on same day just to brave

Based my timing on book I am using mike myers all in one book.

Also Mark something else to think about network+ gets redone next year and old exam will be around until March 09 (i think) so might want to ask TP about if they are going to provide an update to Network+ materials as by time you come to do it this content will be outdated etc.

Cheers for that, I hope to have done those exams by then but worth a check in case.
Reading through the A+ material, there is some stuff that needs updating.

Right well lets start of with an easy question for you all...

What is your main target and what is your first sub target to achieve and when do you want to achieve it by?

So for me as said it is to get MCSA and sub target is to be ready to take my a+ exam by the week ending 26/01/2009.

Sybex books have been good IMO. I am doing the N+ this december, using as elective for MCSA. Can just upgrade with one exam to the new Microsoft stuff.

Any one seen www.certforums.co.uk, there pretty good over there if no one has seen it. Got a few of the writers of books who visit regularly.

I ended up doing both my A+ exams in one go, was a long day but worth it

As for a target, my target was to be an MCSA by August but that hasnt happened (failed 70-291) so my new target is to be MCSA'd by Jan.
I found the A+ book I had was a bit in-depth regarding hardware compared to the exam, which was mainly troubleshooting questions (like user A wants to do something on computer B but it gives an error. What do you check? etc) They did change the exams after I've done it though.

I've found this on IT Idiots, they have a 5 part video series for the 070-290 exam. It may be a bit easyier to sit through than some monotone american on CBT Nuggets. I haven't watched it as I just can't motivate myself, anyone got any tips, i'm going for my MCSE as some of my 2000 MCSA exams count towards the 2003 MCSE,

They're in the troubleshooting format. Multiple choice answers. I didnt mind them too much, prefer them to the long winded M$ questions.

Which is the recommend file format for W2K:

FAT32
FAT16
NTFS
CDFS

A customer complains that printout out are getting progressivly worse...whats the FIRST thing you do?

The ones i found the hardest are the "you need to change this, what path do you take to change it, is it :
x > y > z
z > y > x
y > z > x

In an exam i always blank when it comes to these.

There's a few client care ones....you are faced with an angry client! Some of those answers make me laugh.
