@ Username

I was thinking a useful feature (for me anyway) was @username aka twitter style. That means someone could post message and include @russdev and then that showed up on my panel at top of the page.

Helps me keep up with posts etc

What do people think and then next question can it be done shaun.

Can we have @smoothwall that gets us all (and natch a similar thing for all other sponsors?) - would be useful when, say I am on holiday people could catch Bobby F, Nile Tim or Dan.

We could also rename the site EduTwitGeekBook.

In theory it would be no worse then someone registering and pm'ing you potentially but yeh I would like it as a user setting too.

I am just trying to think how best to inform people who use the @ for other purposes.

What about a tick-box? Below the message textarea in the "Miscellaneous Options" box, along the same lines of what is already in there?

E.g. "[ ]Target users with @"

I am thinking about a possible JS that monitors for "@" characters and if an @ is without a character before it a div tag is unhidden to say something like "@{username} alerts the user fyi, to disable uncheck x option below"
The biggest issue would be people who disable javascript... if only JS did not have all the holes in it....
