Just a thought but following on from the "enthusiastic" finger pointing that got out of hand in the past 24 hours it'd be useful to have some kind of "report it" button for posts or at least a link at the top of the forum so we can send an email/PM when something suspect or downright obvious takes place.
Right now it's a bit tricky to known who to contact and I suspect with the number of mods there are it'd be a bit of a problem if one person acts without others knowing, etc...
Cheers

I agree... it's standard on other boards that I have used.

There is a section in the Staff area that deals with this.
Usually the mods are quick at sorting stuff out.
With regards to the advertising (nor not) of providing web design (which is what I think you're alluding to Contink), this matter is already under discussion.

I'm sure there is, but how do we pond-life alert the admin team to something we think is inappropriate? If there were a button marked "Report" against every post, the clicking of which flagged it to admin for moderation, the process should be a lot quicker.
I know we can send a PM to someone on the team, but who, and what if there is no-one around at the time?

As the size of EduGeek grows (I believe we have doubled our numbers since I joined 5 months ago!) it is going to become harder for the mods to react quickly.
This suggestion should make the mods lives a little easier, I think.

That's great... I'm just wary that we don't have a quick and easily recognisable means of reporting a possible problem

Just to be clear, I'm not wanting a whole other discussion on that or stirring anything up.. Just striking while the irons hot, by suggesting a way to make it easier for a policy of "let us deal with it" to have a chance of success.

If you go to the main forum page you'll see a list of moderators for each forum listed next to the forum name. I suggest you PM the listed forum mod(s) for the forum your having a problem with.

It'll get dealt with as quick as possible. Obviously this is unlikely to be 'instant' as most of us have other priorities during school hours.

Wish I had done this now
ops: ... I was one of the first readers of that thread. I looked for a Report Button and couldn't find one and then got called away before I could do anything else. Could have prevented some trouble by the sound of it.

It wouldnt hurt to implement a Report button though. I'm all for the idea myself. Especially if the report goes to the mod of the board where the post was reported.

Part of the issue is the time to respond ... we just simply don't have enough time until DB wins The Apprentice next year and does this as a proper job.

Roger that..
If it would help I'd be happy to give a mod install a shot but I'd need access to the site code and temp ftp access to do a little testing (assuming a mod looks like it'll work with the code).

If you made the report button goto all site admin and the thread mods even if they locked the topic and sorted it out when time constrants allowed i am sure people would not mind. As always on fourms its the few who ruin it for the many. I for one hate people ruining it for others. (I know i do it all the time with the kids and there games sites) But a locked thread is better than a lot of upset people. Also I have seen poping up reporting users now due to fourm flooding which semes to be the in thing. One fourm took 30 mins to react and had over 25 new members and 10000 posts in a hour and ended up taking there fourm down. By the way how edugeek 2 going lol. ok i will shut up now.
