    Stats

The stats are showing some major increases in site visitors aren't they? eg: 2005 456742
    2006 3448236
    2007 2277659

    We've covered 2/3 of 2006's traffic in 3 1/2 months!

We are increasing in the rate that members are joining ... and have more members than before ... and even more lurkers (come on you lurkers ... register!!!!!)

    It is exciting though :-)

    Re: Stats

Maybe we could take this opportunity to create 'local' meets of edugeekers? Like Linux user groups, we could have local groups who get together for a meet up, show off interesting things, have a rant, have a few pints etc...

What do people think of this? Obviously it would require some co-ordination by some areas but I think it could be a good idea. It would also mean that those lurkers who don't post could come along and see others too.

We have always said we'd support this (had a dinner in Leicester last year and one at xmas up north.

If members want to organise something then edugeek site will offer it support where we can.

    Re: Stats

I think the thing is that we need some form of infrastructure in place before hand - ie. area specific forums or mailing lists, and a meetup calendar showing on the site? And having some form of indication that this sort of thing is encouraged on the site. Then people may see it and think about organising their own local meet-ups.

It would also be a good way of recruiting people to the site as those of us who use the site could drag people from schools that don't use it to the meetings.

    Re: Stats

The problem we have always had with this sort of thing is the time and people to organise it.

Due to many work and Real Life commitments it is difficult for many existing staff members (especially the Site Admins) to take this on ...

If you are volounteering to help in the south west area then we would be more than happy to have the help.

    Re: Stats

Indeed I will volunteer for this area. I have a completely free out of work hours timetable at the moment, so some commitments won't be a bad thing!

I will star rallying troops in the area then. One thing that would be useful is the ability to search for members by their 'Location' field - then we could message all those with 'Somerset' etc... in there.
