Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 6 months then you will have heard of Second Life (http://secondlife.com).
I am considering buying a EduGeek island and creating a conferance centre and meeting hall. Here we can all appear to each other and have very large meetings, or just hang out and bitch.
Anyway, what do you all think?

Sorry, I have been very busy and living in a world of Edugeek Forums, another couple of forums I frequent, and a pile of evergrowing paperwork and forms
I have though been told by a friend that I am not alone in my lack of knoledge of it, but people may know of a similar thing called www.there.com He assures me its a similar thing from reading the websites.

I'd be very interested in something like that.
I've been a "Second Lifer" since June and it's a brilliant environment for conferences, etc.

Never heard of it either. As I try to sign up it asks for a referrer, do you want to be used that the referrer, if so, what name should we use?

I'm something like Alex Krapowski! I've tried it a few times and it seems a bit pointless unless you want to go gambling or gaming. Might be fun to have an EduGeek zone though.
Anyone who has read Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson will know exactly what second life is like. They are even trying to re-create the 'black sun'!

But...why Second Life, its just a graphical version of ICQ or Sims Online, blah !! WoW is far better, and as well as being able to chat , you have the added bonus that everyone could go slap some monsters or other players too

I thought you had to pay to use Second Life?
It's like a really basic version of Better Than Life in Red Dwarf

Second Life is free unless you want to create things in game or own land. You might want to read through the Wikipedia entry for it to get an idea of what it's about.

You can build weapons/games in second life if you wish.
I wouldn't mind an edugeek WoW guild though.
