23rd September 2008, 09:12 AM #1 Good grief.. move to a new Web Host already
Having suffered yet another outage this morning I have to query the sanity of ZH... He must be losing his mind with the server doing a yo-yo routine.
We've had so many outages now it's getting questionable whether key resources are going to be available when we need them.
I know there's a query in the wings due from ukdedicated.com (formerly flump.net - although I think they're trying to sweep that under the carpet).
In all seriousness, 5 months left or no, it's time to pull the plug on Farcehosts and get it all moved... Please.. for my sanity and those of everyone else.. *fluttering of eyelashes*

23rd September 2008, 09:28 AM #3 Although I'd love to say "Oi... You!" on this one and make lots of unreasonable demands I don't pay the bills so perhaps the "Get it sorted!" approach might be a bit harsh..
... but in all honesty I don't see any benefit to Edugeek as a team, the owner or ought else if the server really kicks the big one (which seems increasingly likely) if it stays at Farcehosts. I imagine the loss in revenue and time required to rectify such a fubar would be a big issue that might swing the pro/con meter.
Just a thought from the trenches so's to speak...

23rd September 2008, 10:58 AM #4 The server seems to be wobbly lately regardless of what I do. I think that edugeek may be outgrowing the server anyway and yes we should hopefully be getting a new server soon.
I am discussing hosting options right now for a move asap.

See that name to the left of this post in blue? That means I do pay to use this service, and I expect it to work. So is it a bit harsh?
EDIT: And it was originally said in jest - but seeing as though you're getting on my back about it...

Jest? Darn it, I missed the facial expression and vocal tone to go with the typing... but seriously, how was I supposed to know...
.. and besides it's such a nice back, helps avoid walking.. Now if you could head for the staff room, I fancy a cuppa!

Believe me I would if I could but as it is I've nudged an old friend and colleague in the hosting department to drop them a line with favourable terms.
Right now there's new car, new server (I'm moving my stuff too), and a new wife to worry about.. Edugeek comes low down on the pecking order right now sadly but then school number 5 has reared up so there may be hope yet
