Default What do the Social Forums and Friends do for us :)

I was wondering what the Social Forums and Friends features do for us punters.

I've had one friend request (from a well know penguin type ) to which I was honoured to accept but what good will it do me?

And by chance checked out the Lancs Social thingy today and found a msgs from God himself asking if we are all going to out technies meeting in March (which I am BTW)

But it doesn't show up in new posts and that's the only thing I look at around here (and I suspect many if not all non-staff members do as well)

So -what do these features do for me (us) apart from missing maybe important information

regards

Simon

Good point! Reading your post prompted me to check the group I created, and I spotted 3 new members. Don't suppose there's an option to be notified of this?

It'd be nice to be able to private message all members in a group too

Yeh I am working on it for the social groups. Rumor is that the next beta will improve the social groups so I am going to see what happens then. We were just laying the ground work really.

The social group you are in will be integrated into other parts of the site soon as well so watch this space

LOL.
Friends are currently purely for association right now but they will be linked into other parts as well soon.
So much to do.......
