Just ordered mine - how long was it til you got it?

It says "within 28 days" - was it quicker than this?

Well, I've ordered it. Not sure if I'll ever get round to learning VB at all (or even if I'll be any good when I do... :P ) but at least I'll have it.

How much is a MSDN subscription by the way guys?

I've always thought about getting one (no the school wouldnt pay for it lol) but never knew what it is exactly.

Can anyone explain it? (without linking to MS site or just copy 'n' pasting jargon lol)

Cheers

right go for pro or above as other ones i think are not worth money..

with pro you get get visual studio 2005 when released, complete set of os's and inc server 2003...

msdn library...

plus exlcusive msdn support

misco no website has this level at £724.55 might be abel to get it cheaper via school contacts..

the enterprise level has more adavnce version of vb and and all server os and technologies but costs more..

then universal get first access to to everything inc server test beds etc..

No, thats not far off my monthly wage lol and 'til my girlfriend gets a job, I'm skint lol

MSDN library looks good but the "exclusive msdn support" doesn't appear to be specific as to what that is exactly :S

Quote:
Microsoft Professional Support Incidents entitle MSDN subscribers to either online or telephone support for software development-related problems or break fixes in a test or lab environment for any Microsoft product
So unless you're making software etc., there no real support benefit!?

Better to be a MS SB and get the SB's subscription thing lol - way cheaper and you get a load more products too

I just wonder though, with MSDN you'll get the long awaited longhorn beta(s) coming soon, but I wonder whether you would with the SB's subscription..... *thinks about calling MS*

Cheers

For those that are on a budget, have a look @ Visual Studio Express... it comes in most .net language flavour....

Seconded. I do a lot of work with Visual C++, Visual C# and Visual Web Developer, and I've yet to come across any real limitation with the 2005 Express editions.

SQL Server Express 2005 is pretty good too, if you want to tie an ASP.NET site to it.

Best thing is of course, that they're free.
