display the logged in username/read a MS db without having to authenticate
Hi All
Does anyone know how to get PHP to display the logged in username/read a MS db without having to authenticate. Its to do with our banning system. We would like to set banned users homepage to http://www2.chathamsouth.medway.sch...._suspended.htm (via custom proxy allowing only that page) Which will tell them why they are banned/duration etc, and will allow them to submit a url for inclusion in the 'banned proxy'
Thanks
J

Linux systems can do it, but it's complex as far as I know and I'm not sure how to even start that... mod_ntlm?
Windows IIS just needs you to turn on Authentication with Digest Server (or something about Digests Authentication)
then the $_SERVER['AUTH_USER'] var (or something similar will be populated)
If it's only a simple thing, you may be able to abuse Internet Explorer and use embeded VBScript... not sure how you would do that either.
2 other ways around it are to use ASP/ASP.net or an ActiveX control... there are probably other ways of doing it too.
