    Office 365 - On premise address policy

    Hello,

    I have got a Hybrid Exchange 2013 / Office 365 setup. I have migrated 2 test users onto office 365. We are using DirSync and ADFS. The email domain and UPN is @school.com. This is all fine when we are using on premise exchange. When I migrate a mailbox to Exchange online its changing the email domain to @school.onmicrosoft.com, in AD and on premise Exchange the email domain has changed to @school.local (the windows AD domain name).

    It seems to be the address policy on the on premise exchange that is causing the issue. If I disable it, all works fine. But for the on premise users the exact same policy does not change the email address to domain.local. It seems to be a mix of Office 365 and address policies.

    I was having this trouble and found it to be a combination of Proxy Address and mail address of the user needed to be set to the correct Office 365 domain.

    So now we change both before dirsync which seems to work.

    There may be a better way though.

    Two things to check first, although I don't have a hybrid environment.

    First you have set up your @school.co.uk domain in office 365.
    Second, have you added school.co.uk to ad as a suffix? I had to do this and change the users upn to be name@school.co.uk instead of name@school.local

    Yep all that is done. We are already using 365 but not Exchange Online.

    Couple of things to try.
    In AD go to View and make sure advanced features is ticked.
    then open one of the users who has been transfered over. Under the attribute editor tab :- find proxyaddress you should have an SMTP:your email address . (i have two (one for local domain and one for 365)) this gets synced up to microsoft
    second thing
    On the office 365 main portal page. Go into users and groups and open up the user ; click the more tab (on the left toolbar) click edit exchange properties (a new window opens).
    then click email address, The Smtp one in bold is the default one check yours is correct.

    That's the thing, the address isn't correct, something keep changing it! grrr!
