    New migration - help needed - Exchange 07 > Office 365

Our mail server (exchange 2007) stopped receiving external mail today. It turns out that the mailbox drive only had 6GB of space left available. Managed to free it up to 15GB but that wont last for long.

So, I need to plan a migration to office 365 at some point in the very near future (over the summer preferably)

What do I need to know??

We have an EES agreement so believe that it will be covered under that. So i am literally starting from the beginning with this. Any pointers or gotcha's that I need to be aware of?

What happens to all the users mail that is currently sitting in exchange, does this get pushed up to 365? One of my users has 88,000+ emails (12GB) ish.....

    Thanks in advance!

    Where to begin...

First step will be to sign up to the A2 plan. That is totally free for education.

    Compare Office 365 Education plans

You can do this now even if you're not ready to migrate yet as you can use the service with the *.onmicrosoft.com domain, such as yourschool.onmicrosoft.com.

There are then a few routes you can take in terms of getting mail to Office 365, but to begin, I'd get yourself an account made.

Worth searching on here too for Office 365 as there's a good few posts on migration.

How many users are you looking to move over?

    Thanks

Staff users there are around 80

Students I'd probably leave and create new accounts. There are roughly 550 students
