No incoming email to Office 365

    Hi all;

Just playing around with Office 365 at the moment.

outgoing emails from my 365 domain is ok (mrwu365.co.uk) but incoming I either don't get the email or a NDR from yahoo/gmail

testing with @MrWu365.onmicrosoft.com seems ok, so pointing to a MX record issue for mrwu.co.uk itself (MX record is pointing to
    ms33288892.msv1.invalid.outlook.com. in 123.reg

emails between Office365 users work ok

here is the NDR when I try to send an email via yahoo to a user in Office 365 called office.365@mrwu365.co.uk:

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

    Sorry Twin Turbo

in the original thread I mentioned I did stick am MX record in (although it was a busy summer, so cant remember if that's all I need to do:

"testing with @MrWu365.onmicrosoft.com seems ok, so pointing to a MX record issue for mrwu.co.uk itself (MX record is pointing to
    ms33288892.msv1.invalid.outlook.com. in 123.reg "

is that MX record look right though, looking at TechNet I also needed to add autodiscover, etc?

PS I changed to mrwu365.co.uk from my real school domain just in case. sorry ..

yes, I a bit paranoid about putting my actual school domains in a forum so I always do a bogus one...

Have you got the school domain name in 365

There used to be "Accepted Domains" but I think the later fudged it so that you have to add a DNS entry on their365 DNS control pannell . Microsoft want you to use their DNS full stop but it's not necessary

    following you real MX.

    ms33288892.msv1.invalid.outlook.com

    has no a-record.

I guess the "invalid" means something.

ms22083793.msv1.invalid doesn't look right for an MX record. - Domains in Office 365 - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community

There should be a domain verification process which will give you a "txt record" to add to your 123Reg DNS host, it's 2-3 years since I looked at it but it was fairly straight forwad.

This is there so that microsoft can verify you are the correct DNS administrator for your domain.

    Thanks Twin turbo

The ms33288892.msv1.invalid.outlook.com. was indeed a way I used for MS to verify that I owned the domain (TXT was another way to do it)

After that's verified by Office 365 the portal will post the CNAME/MX entries needed to activate mail etc

all coming back to me now!

    No Problem.

Does remind me that I need to shut down our 365 as it's no longer the official student e-mail service.

Do you use google apps instead? I have that one setup too but was looking for the same vendor across the board. There are some retarded decisions made by MS though ( would have made the whole thing unbeatable) ie should have made onenote , skydrive pro available across ALL platforms and synchronisable on A2 package, silly little things (for example you can't upload pictures from IOS on the camera roll with Skydrive PRO, although the recent announcement of Office packages available for Students OCs and MAC sweetens it a bit.
