Ten minutes reading this thread over a cuppa.
Three minutes on the phne to my OVS-ES reseller.
Five minutes work next week sometime to tie the licences in before our 365 launch over half-term.
1200 students with a full copy of Office and no more dealing with Pages files or bizarre ODF formatting or "I can't do it at home because"

Result cheers everyone for asking all the questions before me so the answers were sitting here waiting for me! And cheers @jamesbmarshall for the blog posts

It took 24 hour when I had to slap my supplier as they had not set the initial number of licenses correctly and they had to raise a second order to increase it.

My supplier strangely ordered several thousand more licences than I had asked for!!!

I still don't have access yet though.

I was told up to 14 days, but then I had a pretty big arguement with my supplier over the course of a month in order to get the right number of licences on the right agreement.

Took about 3 days, after having to chase the resseller, so about 10 days. We got the right amount of licenses (per month) right away so all was cushty.

Took a few days for us to get them.

Office 2013 isn't supported on Visa. What if someone tried to get Office from a Vista machine? Will it install 2010?

    Thanks

Bumping the thread slightly - does any know the correct SKU codes that our reseller should be using for the student advantage. We've had a quote through and they are charging us £0.01 per license, then saying they refund the subtotal but we have to pay the VAT?! This seems wrong according to most replies this thread, so can anyone help me straighten this up?

That is the SKU we bought, and it didn't cost us a penny. Your reseller is wrong.

Thanks, it did seem odd - I'll get back on the reseller.

Actually, that's not strictly true. Microsoft doesn't sell directly, traditionally, it sells through re-sellers. Just like any other sales process, re-sellers can add a margin to the price. Where this breaks is in the cloud model, and more specifically when we publish $0 SKUs where it would be crazy to try and charge anything more. Some re-sellers systems are not capable of processing a $0 order and one way around this is to charge a nominal sum. It is unusual, but not unheard of.

That sounds about right. In which case, find a reseller that has a decent ordering system.

Just to clarify, our reseller confirmed the full amount is refunded internally so effectively we aren't charged anything, so it's still zero cost to us in the end.
