    DropBox Network Install

    Hi All

I have a quick question around the install of DropBox. I have created a MSI and which works, and pushed this out via GPO but when it installs it sits there wanting the user to sign into dropbox, now this would be find, but as its doing this on startup its not showing the user the login option.

Has anyone got a workaround for this and managed to get it working ?

    TIA to any help

I set up a separate file server and ran a copy of the DropBox demon in the background for each user, so each user can connect to their DropBox area as a shared network file area. Quite handy as the server is always running, so any changes get synced in the background.

On a Debian Linux server running Samba, pretty much all you have to do is download Dropbox's binary Linux client (seems to be cross-platform, written in C - no compiling, it just runs) and add an entry to /etc/rc.local for each user starting up the DropBox demon as that user. You don't need to pass any usernames or passwords via the command line, DropBox instead has each user confirm they wish to sync to a prticular machine through their web interface. Advice on Samba is here:

    Configuring Samba

Assorted guides for DropBox on Linux are around, I think it was this one I followed:

Run Multiple Instances of Dropbox Simultaneously on Linux or Mac OS X - The Unofficial Dropbox Wiki
