But the three users I have just created have nothing in those folders - would they still be a problem?
Could I try the migration with our domain address and the on.microsoft address in place of one of them? (not sure which - as currently they are both the same) Which one would it be?

In the CSV file, the first e-mail address is the Office 365 one, so you could use the blah.onmicrosoft.com address in it's place. The second e-mail address is the username for Easymail so would need to be your normal domain still.

@Boredguy and anyone else who wants to chip in.
I'm looking at this for Witch at the moment but going forward I propose that she does the following any flaws so far?
Ensure all users have an Office 365 mailbox.
Users export their contacts to a csv where possible and import those into Office 365.
MX record is changed so that new email goes direct to the Office 365 mailboxes.
We continue to work on transferring over old emails and users can still log in to Easymail to check old emails if needed.
This would just stop the current easymail mailboxes getting any bigger.

Yep that sounds fine, just as long as the SWGfL does not disable easymail until notified (say end of Feb which gives 2 months to resolve any lingering e-mail transfer bugs)
Also means staff can start on the new system after the Christmas break and allows Witch 2 weeks of peace from it

All users have an Office 365 mailboxes presumably as I have created all the users
Users not capable of exporting contacts I don't think
We've paid for easymail till summer, so that shouldn't be an issue
I dont think the bosses will go for this solution as people won't have all their emails to hand - are you saying that they will have to use easymail to look at old emails and office 365 for new ones? What if they need to reply to an email that is more than a couple of days (or whenever the cutoff) is old? Would they have to log into easymail, copy it somehow, log out and then log in to 365 to send a reply?
Sorry, it isnt going to work - but on the plus side, I havent been given a time limit, they know we are having problems ATM
I tried a migration using the onmicrosoft address instead of the easymail one - well, the one in the first column anyway, it says synced but there is no mailbox

I would hope that any teacher in this day and age could follow a step by step guide, otherwise I now start to see how much trouble they give you, and can lend you a cluebat if you need one for them

To be honest, the best way to migrate the e-mail is once you are sure there is no more being sent to the account, otherwise you have to keep syncing the accounts and no-one starts moving to the new system. So far about 2/3's of your accounts have been successfully migrated and syncing which is not bad (not good, as it should be 100% but not bad either as it could be 3 accounts only)

All new mail will go in to Office 365.
Accounts which haven't yet successfully synced with still have old email in easymail until we get them to sync.
Accounts which have synced will have old emails in Office 365.

Also, I have tried the syncing via Outlook for the dep head and one of my accounts and they both failed

@witch as per email I've just sent you it appears the users that are failing are doing so because IMAP access is not available to their accounts so either they have a different template in easymail possibly not the advanced template? or SWGFL needs to make sure IMAP is enabled for all accounts.

As far as I know they all have the same template - I will check though
I have checked and three or four of the failed ones were on a different template - "custom settings" rather than "staff" but unfortunately not all, and some of the ones on "custom settings" did sync OK such as my own account, ittech
So I am not sure that is an explanation.
I will ask SWGfL on Mon about the IMAP

@witch I replied at 15:43 with some screenshots.
Otherwise IMAP login does not work for the failed accounts, I used telnet and get a successful login using details of accounts that have synced and then with 2 of the ones that failed to migrate in Office 365 I got access denied trying to login using IMAP so I'm hoping that is indeed the issue.

@witch Re-sent it to your sky email address.
Every single one in your spreadsheet that failed on office 365 fails to login via imap using Telnet to test so something is wrong on the easymail setup and SWGFL can fix it for you and then it will all work.
