    That is it exactly. I've just upgraded to the latest DirSync here and it has already copied across all our on-premises passwords. Job done!

    It looks very interesting I have to say. Unfortunately our management requires us to have Single Sign On with our new 365 rollout. If it wasn't for that then I would remove the ADFS completely and just use this newer DirSync with PasswordSync

    This new version would require actively typing in your username and password when on-site. I will keep it though and see about swapping in the future.

    We find its actually better they type in the user/pass onsite as it means there is no confussion about being offsite and having to do something different.

    Great news about the new DirSync, I may even try it out!

    When you say type in pass, where are they typing it in exactly?

    If I'm reading that blog correctly, does the new DirSync not require a public accessible connection to a server any more?

    Seems not, it just needs to be able to contact MS to 'upload' the information and then synchronize every X minutes/hours however long. There's no longer the IIS website.

    I just prompted a directory sync for the first time. Looking at the logs on my server, it didn't work saying something along the lines of 'account specified not in builtin\administrators group' (even though I gave domain admin credentials).

    Anyway, just tried logging in to office365 portal and now I get;

    It looks like your account has been blocked
    Please contact your admin to unblock it.

    Hi all, long time updating this post I know but just want to say a huge thanks to all that added info and help on this post. I successfully launched Office365 to all staff and students a few weeks ago and so far all running brilliantly.

    Single sign on works great and the whole system is so much better than our old LEA email system. Created a few how to guides for users to make the transition a little easier and everyone seems to have smoothly moved across with out too many hiccups. If anyone else is thinking of making the plunge to go down the Office365 route feel free to message and I'll gladly pass on the info I have learnt along the way. One thing I would advise is turn off IM for students and make sure your AD is spotless before you begin (this will make life easier).

    Just for some extra info our system is setup using 4 VM's on ESX (2 x ADFS Servers, 1 x ADFS Proxy Server & 1 x DirSync Server).

    Some of the numbers bounced around on this thread aren't unreasonable for a company to walk in, get everything set up (bells AND whistles), hand over a working system and walk away.

    Give our 365 Consultant a ring/PM and he can talk you through what parts you can do yourself, and work out which bits you would need to pay for to get up and running.
    365 is straightforward to set up, but is often best viewed as a deployment project with one component deployed at a time. We can assist you in constructing this plan.
