It's not a problem really just a design flaw as I see it.

Tried to make my tech a user admin but you have to put in a secondary email address for them which is just stupid.

Why is that stupid? If a user forgets their password, they come to you... but if you lose access to your account, and you're the admin, who do you go to?

Also it's not for me it's to add my tech so that he can manage users.

You have an admin account and the ability to add other users as admins so unless everyone forgot their passwords there isn't an issue.

I don't want to have password reset requests for an admin account going to someones personal account.

We provide them 1 Office 365 email account that should be enough.

Other types of administrator cannot reset the password details of global administrators (for very valid security reasons). Therefore, unless you have many global admins (not a great idea) to rely on to reset each others passwords in the event of someone forgetting, you're left in the situation where you need to recover your own account which you can do by providing some alternate contact details.

Microsoft Support is there to help you fix problems, sure, and it's there 24 hours a day. The support team isn't there to reset passwords though - and surely it's far less churn for your administrators to be able to recover their accounts instantly themselves, rather than having to phone Microsoft.

Unless I forget my password or get killed there won't be a need for anyway to ring Microsoft but I'm sure in that type of situation they would help out so no I still think it's stupid that in order to facilitate my tech being able to change users passwords I have to supply and alternative non office 365 email address.

99% of people in the world have far greater problems than having to provide an email address when signing up for an account.

By that logic nobody can complain about anything, ever.

Because there's always going to be someone worse off.

Err yes it would be ok for me to reply to my own thread of course so there isn't a double standard there but seeing as you've clearly just talking a load of old tosh and haven't grasped the point I'd rather you didn't bother.
