Add 2-step verification - Google Apps Help
We are not using Google Apps in full production at the moment, but some teachers have a few small groups who are using it. All of our accounts have been imported into Google but some users are being asked to "verify their identity via phone" when they first login. This is fine for teachers, but we dont allow students to have phones in school (even though they do). Anyone else had this issue?

That's under Authentication > 2-step verification and it is turned off.
This is the message I see in admin for one of the users

Are all those new accounts predominantly signing in for the first time from the school / LAs outgoing IP?
We had this but only when they were using Blogger.

Have you called support?
I'd be interested to hear what they say as i've only encountered the two-step auth process once I've actually turned it on.
Where do they get the phone no's from?
Not called support yet, thought I would ask here to see if anyone else had this.
They dont have phone numbers in there, it asks for one to verify.
40 mins on the phone to Google.
They think the issue might be related to Google Mail, Contacts and Calendar turned off in out Apps, so they are now back on and I need to check it again in a short while. They did not have an answer right away why it's asking to be verified.

All sorted. Google say that some accounts were marked as suspended after they had imported. They changed the status of them all and they work now
No, if only I can get GAPS working I would be a happy man
