    Google Docs to stop supporting .doc, .xls and .ppt formats

    Just seen this on The Register: Google spikes old MS file formats ? The Register
    As of the 1st October apparently. Only .docx, .xlsx and .pptx will be supported.

    Google Apps update alerts: Scheduled Release track features update 9/25/12

    The info is not correct. It is only for exporting from Gdocs and supports the newer formats.
