Google ends support for Office 2003 file types

    Source:

Google Apps update alerts: Scheduled Release track features update 9/25/12

Not a bad thing to do 5 years and 8 months after the release of Office 2007, but very little notice given!

I haven't gone into this in detail, but what this says is:

Users no longer have the ability to export Google Docs format files in Office 1997-2003 format (.doc, .xls, .ppt).
Which is not the same as stopping support completely. Those of us who have Office 2003 documents up there for safe keeping are OK for the time being unless there's something hidden somewhere else.
