    Admin machines gone wrong

Somethings happened (don't know what/how-allegedly due to MS updates) over the weekend.

The symptom I've seen myself is that IE doesn't even run at all !

    These instructions fix it

    regards

I've got a similar problem (also after an update cycle) elsewhere, haven't had time to investigate it yet though.

I also encountered a IE8 hang problem - it was taking over 3 minutes to load - that turned out to be the Google Toolbar trying to take over the world!

    Meaow!

Seemed it might be related to me or I'd not have bothered offering it.

I went to pick up my daughter from another school (She's on work experience there) and the head's desktop was completely devoid of any icons!

Did someone slip a virus into an MS Update????

Just shows how sticking with SP1 was the right decision

    Does anyone know what happened?

Did it not affect all XP machines on autoupdate?

    regards

It happened to me not here, but on another site, where I released IE8 alongside some other updates. The combination of them seems to have caused some upset, rather than the updates themselves.

Well I've had no end of problems, with most machines having the problems shown on the Westfield site. But since it has synced with the lancs wsus server, it don't seem to be cropping up. But I've had to re install ie8 on about 100 machines.

But since it has synced with the lancs wsus server,
    What lancs WSUS server?

Is this for admin machines only?
