Im Currently working in one of the primary schools i mange re-imaging all thier machines and when i was searching for some drivers i got greeted by a very depressing message
It appears that the "modded" whitelist from before (with unblock requests taken in) appears to have reverted to the original, websites that where initially blocked but un-blocked after a request appear to be blocked again?Originally Posted by Smartfilter
Is there a new list that will be implmented over easter? or are we going to have to faf around submitting a few hundred un block requests a day?
its a complete pain in the ass to be sure. teachers who have been using previously accessible websites in lessons arent too impressed either
It's a huge pain and it always rears it's ugly head on the only website that has the answer you need!
how is it that flash games sites are still allowed?
because the site is on the whitelist..
no i mean generally. I presume there's a flash games category, why is the whole category allowed....
its a problem...kids soon figure out we can't stop them going on games when they're supposed to be using the internet for research and they alt-tab between windows when their teachers back is turned.
We ban them from the internet, if we catch them on abtutor but we just cant keep up at the moment.
Well then, the real issue is the quality of the list.

Well some games sites are educational e.g. BBC ones.no i mean generally. I presume there's a flash games category, why is the whole category allowed....
But I think that someone maybe needs to have a look at the whitelist - I had to email the webmaster this week to get 2 sites red listed

its getting worse this whitelist. its starting to impact the ability to do my job.
just waited a couple of hours to get Disaster Proof Hard Drives, External USB Devices and Network Attached Storage (NAS) that is Fireproof and Waterproof unblocked only discover internal site links are Disaster Proof Hard Drives, External USB Devices and Network Attached Storage (NAS) that is Fireproof and Waterproof and still blocked!
the next thing I needed to look at, a guide of how to make an isa 2006 array....blocked!
ffs.
If you check out the info on the filtering:
Filtering : Change your filtering
You'll see it's possible (if your head writes a suitable letter) to have your admin network set as unfiltered.
Indeed.

When they introduced the whitelist I asked for my admin networks to not be on it and I was told this wasn't possible

Then either the website is wrong, or the person who told you that is.

That's definately a true statementThen either the website is wrong, or the person who told you that is.
