    There starting to wear me down - I'll think I 'll start ringing up at the end of each day when there hasn't been a major outage and tell them that it worked instead of ringing when there is a fault

    I'll waste less time.

    I even tried just a simple email today so that I didn't have to spend time hanging on and waiting for someone to ring back.

    I sent it from a CLEO account and put my mobile number in - they rang the school back so the school sec had to come and find me and all they wanted to do was confirm what I'd written in the email

    You'd think by now, that there would be a big sticker on the wall that says if Simon rings and says something's bust - it probably is

    I am looking for alternative web and Moodle hosting

    You can, but you are still reverse proxied via CLEO servers. As CLEO/LancsNGFL schools have no direct Internet facing IPs assigned to us to use like that.

    Yes but that would solve the problem with SQL going down, also dont you have an SLA with CLEO/Lancs? saying what level of service can be expected?

    And you think the reverse proxies are any more reliable? I've never seen an SLA for our CLEO connection + the LancsNGFL services.

    An SLA is the first thing I would be requesting because it is a service you are paying for (and my guess is it doesnt come cheap)

    Just a note... I reported the fault with Westfield yesterday and was told that the outage was due to some upgrade borking connections to the SQL cluster.
