CLEO moodle facilities are down - confirmed by westfield.
I suspect other problems as I have to bypass using wwwcache.cleo.net.uk and switch to proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk to access internet sites at the school I'm at but may be co-incidence

Explains why we can't get outlook web access from outside too then! Out of curiosity, what is wwwcache.cleo.net.uk? We always thought the lancsngfl.ac.uk proxy address was the only one you could use?

It used in primary schools as the 'autoconfiguration' url for proxys.

Please remember it is Tuesday, and Tuesday mornings are classed as an 'at risk' period when maintenance is carried out. Maintenance is almost always finished by 9am, but sometimes overruns.

(Re my proxy problem) A bit of info I hadn't thought of - Westfield got me to untick using autoconfig url and type in the address of my NED in the proxy setting
10.xx.yy.250 and use port 8000
and enable bypass for local addresses.
This worked , so it showed that my NED box was functioning OK and that its a problem with the autoconfiguration file (or accessing it)
I'm suspecting someone's used a JCB for a bit of re-wiring at LUNS and took out their connectivity

My ICT Co-ord requests that Mon night/Tues morn maintenace is switched to Friday night/Saturday morning instead
Would you pass this on please Chris

That would require someone paying for overtime/out of work hours support. Last time I raised this point, lack of funding was cited as the reason for not doing it.

That's a managed service for you!! ;-)
apparently ours is so broke, we might be off for a week while they connect us on to the sdsl circuit our feeder primary schools use, in the interim before they connect us up to new 100mb fibre.

just had a phone call moodle back up

But now Lancsngfl sites (e.g my websites) are all downmoodle back up
I rang the helpdesk to explain that it might be better to say a bit more than lancsngfl is down because AFA my teachers are concerned - they''ll think that means T'internet is broken when its not
Are we past midday yet?

Simon
PS Spent a fair propoprtion of my day dealing with todays events
NED box problem has also been fixed BTW

You've got to laugh - someone rang back from Westfield to say they didn't control the message saying lgfl is down.
I said, I know that but you might know who does and could tell them to make it a bit more meaningful to stop teachers thinking the internet is broken when its "just" lancsngfl services and websites.

PS Just (don't know what made me try it) I checked to see if Westfield's own site was up and got
Which is a lot better than the main message posted belowSCHOOL WEBSITES
Due to a school website being compromised, all other school websites have been taken offline in order to protect them whilst further investigation is carried out.
It is hoped that they will be back online by the morning of Wednesday 11th February.

I'm starting to think that someone has hacked a Lancs CMS website as why would take down the main lancslgfl site if it was another type of CMS that was vunerable.
Hope its back by Thurs night as me and a friendly ICT Co-ord are doing an inset at a school on Friday - free sandwiches biscuits and coffee
