    Put in a change request to open a port to the internet from your TMG and see if it helps. If it does then problem solved, if it doesn't or they deny the request then change provider. It's a free market.

    I realise the options available, but if we can see theres a big enough problem within CLEO schools, hopefully they will address it.
    We have our website/moodle/antivirus licence/email tied in to the same provider, so its a lot of services to change over if we leave them.
    Theres also the increase in cost as we get a good deal.
    We are looking at it, but for now Id like to see if we can improve the existing service.

    Not sure about that!. but yes it does seem the best starting point to improve the service! It may be that they are unaware of the issue.
    Do you get graphing details of your endpoint router. The first place to look is if it is under too much load. Our LA steadily provided more bandwidth to schools, but forgot to upgrade the router from an old Cisco that wouldn't exceed more than 40Mb/s

    No we dont get anything useful like that!

    I think its a Cisco Catalyst 3550 - Id imagine thats not a problem.

    On the same sort of subject how are people finding their connection to their Moodle ? Ours seem to be very slow with a lot of issues logging in sometimes and it's not because they are using the wrong password.

    I think it's horrendously slow and I am putting pressure on to move away, but it will be a slow process.

    Hi,

    It would be interesting if any of you have the ability to download a large file from within the LA network. You are most likely to find that your physical point to point connection from your property to their core will run at the speed it is designed to. What we see in most instances is that the outbound internet section from the LA core is the bit that is over subscribed (or maybe in their terms, carefully cost managed), so technically under your SLA you would get what you are meant to, but in practical terms you don't. It is like your DSL modem at home syncing at 24Mb/s but you only getting 5Mb/s because your ISPs upstream capacity is saturated.

    I know none of this helps, but it was more of an interesting thought/test, than any comfort !
