    Core 2 Duo Processor

I've been building a media PC for a freind and currently have a Pentium D 915 2.8 processor in there. This may not be enough to provide the grunt it needs as it will be doing Blu-Ray\HD DVD, although it does have an ATI 3450 which should offload this processing.
The heat that the Pentium D puts out though is a little disturbing and a cooler Core 2 would be a good swap. Does anyone have a spare\old one in a drawer they would consider selling?

Slightly OT - I thought almost all Blueray/HD was done by the processor?

Certainly for transcoding. The AMD64 5000+ X2 has trouble with 1080p streaming to the XBOX360 here.

The newer ATI cards now offload this to the Radeon boards.

OT but, how have you got that setup?

I have one of the ATi cards with the unified video decoders setup, and will happily play 1080p on the PC, but would like to stream to the Xbox.

That is currently just setup to play the SD movies etc.

I think if you use windows media centre or the latest windows media player. There is a option somewhere to share with devices...
