Hi there,
I have been shopping around for 44 new PCs for our suite (Primary) , the best quote I got is the one below from Evesham. Just wondered if this is a good quote, or there is better out there. It has beaten two of our other suppliers. enc.

Price seems pretty good to me as it comes with a TFT and 3 year warranty.

That CPU is almost phased out now as better performing lower powered chips arrive. You could get a Celeron 440 2.0Ghz 35W as an eqiv or maybe better Pentium E Dual Core 2140 1.6Ghz its about £10 more than the old P4 3.0Ghz.
Hi danielson81
Just so you know, we can offer the same spec system but using the Intel E2140 CPU for £360.00+VAT. The mainboard will have an Intel chipset and Gigabit LAN also. We'll also offer you free delivery
Please PM or email me if you would like me to send you over a quotation
Many thanks
*Edit: This includes Windows XP Professional, the 17" TFT and 3 year on-site warranty on both the PCs and the monitors
We have just paid £315 a system for
Intel Core2Duo 1.8Ghz
160GB Hard Disk
1Gig RAM (Kingston) DDR2
Aopen small form factor case with front USB & Audio
17" TFT
Microsoft Optical Mouse & Keyboard
Gigabyte Motherboard with onboard Graphics (Intel Extream), Network & Sound.
1 Year warrenty on systems.
3 Year warrenty on TFT.
Considering the P4 3Ghz chip can be bought for £35 now, and a Core2Duo is like £80 your quote to me seems quite high for that chip.

Quackers: Inlcuding XP/Vista?
What supplier?
Ben
No licences we get them from our select agreement. We get the PC's from Component Solutions, you will normally find them advertising in Micromart, they supplied the PC's that monitor the fridges/freezers in morrisons, so they do big deals. http://www.compsol.co.uk .
Do many schools take PCs with a 1 year warranty? I must admit, we always get asked for 3 year which we supply as standard anyway.Originally Posted by Quackers
Just so you know for future reference, the spec you just listed there is available for £300 from us, with a 3 year on-site warranty on the PC and monitor![]()
I always go for 1 year warrenty... way i see it i'm employed to support the network and pc's so the college is just paying twice.
With an Aopen case? Microsoft Branded keyboards and Mice? and Kingston branded RAM?
We just buy extra boards instead of paying X ££ per machine extra for a 3 year warranty, works for us. Can always get hard disks and power supplys.
For future ref. I think you'll find Select doesn't cover OS licenses in this instance. The only XP/Vista licenses available on Select are upgrades, i.e. the machine should have a qualifying OEM license already. These are around £70-80 last time I checked IIRC. I gather some people find Windows 98 licenses for a fiver and go from there! Just a FYIOriginally Posted by Quackers

Ebay is your friend.I gather some people find Windows 98 licenses for a fiver and go from there! Just a FYI
ComputerCommodities.com had them a little while back - not sure if they still do. They're a little close to the exploding barrels - don't think I will be going there to check on my way home
