When do you get your budget given to you?

We just get told spend what you need.

We get ours towards the end of April, beginning of May. And it works out about £5k for general ICT purchasing (ie. new staff laptops and the like), £2k for ICT as a subject, including consumables for projectors, and £15k for 'big projects', ie. new servers etc...
Bit lower than usual as we've got a very tight budget this year.
Despite working here 6 years and being promoted to ICT Manager, I still don't get to manage a budget.
I have to ask the SMT for everything I need and have no idea of where the money comes from or how much there is left.
Having said that though, it's not often my requests are turned down. :-)
getting £60k (£30K admin, £30k curric)

I've seen mine and its not looking good![]()
snap, not looking too good this year ....![]()

heh, our school is £500,000 in debt, making 18 redundancies before summer and have BSF within the year.
Guess what our budget will be!![]()
30k to run the school (maintenance, consumables etc.)
Our main capitation bid this year (new IT suite, backbone upgrade etc.) is 107k, we are due to meet with the Head and Business Manager after the easter break where hopefully they say yes, never had a no yet.

£25k Maintenance and Consumable - this includes small bits and pieces also
£80k Harnessing Technology & Capital Funding - will use this for the replacement of our 3 -4 year PC's.

Budget slashed by a third this year but still got some fun stuff in there.

What's a budget?!
200k here for everything excluding comsumables - faculities pay for them out of their budgets!

Budget! * Falls off chair choking *
There is one; I don't generally find out what it actually is;
TBH I have to put forward a business case for non-consumable spend... and then for significant expenditure it has to be approved by the governing body. I never get told that I have so many thousand to spend on new hardware in the coming year. It's a case of pitching for the money when it's needed.
All my schools have had to slash their budgets and my visits have been cut to the bare minimum. Mainly because they're sorting projectors and whiteboards while they still can.
Seems it's bad all over..
